About Health-on-line

Health-on-line is based in Bournemouth and was founded in 2000. AXA PPP healthcare began underwriting their policies in 2005 and they became a part of the AXA Group in 2012.

They were the first health insurance provider to offer a modular style product that gives customers the ability to tailor a plan to suit their needs; have a 4.8 out of 5 star rating on Feefo and have been recognised as the ‘Best Online Healthcare Provider’ by ‘Your Money Awards’ for the last 4 years.

What are Health-on-line’s Health Insurance options?

Health-on-line offers 3 healthcare options:

  • Inspire
  • Health for you
  • Personal Health

They all include Core and Cancer Cover but with flexibility to choose additional options depending on your needs and your budget.

Inspire

The ‘Inspire’ Health-on-line plan is their economy product which offers a smaller selection of Spire Healthcare and Ramsey private UK hospitals, however it still includes extensive heart and cancer care and fast track appointments. Cover includes:

Inpatient or day patient

  • Hospital charges including operating theatre, nursing, accommodation, treatment and drugs
  • Specialist fees
  • Diagnostic tests upon specialist referral

Outpatient

  • Specialist referred surgery with no annual limit

Other benefits

  • Helpline with access to healthcare experts
  • Receive £50 a night or up to £2,000 a year when you have free inpatient treatment by the NHS
  • Oral surgery at chosen facilities

Cancer options

You can choose from one of the following options:

  • Comprehensive Cancer Cover which includes radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, no limit on specialist cancer drugs, specialist consultations as an outpatient and experimental drug treatment in ethically approved trials.
  • NHS Cancer Support which means you will be treated by the NHS. People choose this option to either reduce their premium or because they are ineligible for comprehensive cancer cover because of their medical history.

Health for you

The ‘health for you’ plan provides affordable healthcare with a select number of private UK hospitals, the ability to manage your health online and the ability to video call your GP. Cover includes:

Inpatient or day patient

  • Private hospital (from their list) and day-patient fees
  • Use of health for you specialists with no annual limit
  • Accommodation for one parent if a covered child is in hospital
  • Road ambulance transport if required to transport you to another facility

Outpatient

  • Receive £50 a night or up to £2,000 a year when you have free inpatient treatment by the NHS

Personal Health

The ‘Personal Health’ plan is Health-on-Line and AXA PPP Healthcare’s premium plan, offering a wider more comprehensive range of over 250 UK private hospitals and more than 24,000 specialists; extensive heart and cancer cover, family cover and fast track appointments. Cover includes:

Inpatient or day patient

  • Private hospital (from their wider list) and day-patient fees

Health on line additional healthcare services

In addition to the healthcare cover that comes as standard with the three plans, you also get the option to tailor your policy by paying for one or more of the following ‘add on’ services. The amount of cover provided with each varies depending on whether you have chosen the ‘Inspire’, ‘Health for you’ or Personal Health’ plan:

  • Outpatient options
  • Therapies options
  • Private GP cover option
  • Mental health option
  • Dentist and Optician cashback option
  • European and worldwide travel cover option

Plan exclusions

Health on line do not list their exclusions on their website although these will be included in the terms and conditions you should read before applying for the plan.

There is however a general note saying that their health insurance plans generally only cover treatment for new medical conditions and not ones that you have had symptoms for prior to joining Health-on-line. It also goes on to say that medical treatment for the following is also excluded:

  • Normal healthy pregnancy
  • Conditions arising from professional sport
  • Any experimental procedures

Switching your existing health insurance to Vitality Health

Yes you can switch from your existing health insurance cover to Health-on-line. They advise you can switch health insurance providers at any time but it makes sense to do so at the end of the year so you don’t lose out on any payments.

Simple Illustration of costs

Based on an underwritten plan for a 50 year old male, living in South East of England, with the Comprehensive Cover but no add ons and a £250 excess - the monthly payments would be £42.34.

Reasons you may consider the Vitality Health Insurance Plan

  • Flexibility to tailor your plan to suit your needs and budget
  • Award winning healthcare provider with a 4.8 star Feefo rating
  • Part of worldwide insurer the AXA Group
  • PureGym 50% discount
  • 25% off health assessments
  • 24/7 dedicated healthcare helpline
  • Quick and easy access to manage your policy online
