Compare funeral plans and save money

Not only is the 1st April April Fool’s day, the day when you avoid all contact with friends and family for fear of being caught out by some oh so funny gag, it’s also the day when Golden Charter, one of the biggies when it comes to funeral plan providers is putting their prices up on their range of prepaid funeral plans.

If you are thinking of putting plans in place and looking for ways to help with funeral costs, this news is not to be sniffed at as you could save up to £309 if you act now.

The majority of funeral plan providers have already increased their costs with only a handful left to make the move, so it does make sense to compare pre-payment funeral plans sooner rather than later if you are thinking about paying for a funeral in advance.

I’m pleased to say that the companies we work with Golden Charter, Golden Leaves, Funeral Planning Services and Perfect Choice Funerals have all held back on price increases so far; well until the 1st of April as far as Golden Charter is concerned but price increases are inevitable so it’s only a matter of time.

To put it into perspective, this is how funeral plan prices currently compare. The top purple table shows prepayment funeral plans bought through Over50choices whereas the bottom blue table shows funeral plan costs with the remaining plan providers.

If you would like to pay for a funeral in advance but are not comfortable with paying this kind of money in one go, there are payment options available that make funeral plans more affordable to a much wider audience.

Most funeral plans can be bought through instalments of between 12 to 60 months and if you choose the 12 month option, you won’t incur any additional administration charges.

In addition, some providers like Golden Charter and Golden Leaves also offer a fixed monthly payment option. You pay a lower monthly premium either for life or until your 90th birthday and your funeral services are covered after an initial period of between 6 months and 2 years.

So there are a number of options available to you; the important thing is to do your homework so you can be sure of choosing the right type of funeral cover.

You can compare funeral plans online using websites like ours and if you want to know more about the individual companies, why not take a look at our funeral plans review.
