Updated 2nd February 2024 - I have reviewed Direct Line Car Insurance to help you understand more about the company and the services they offer. You may also wish to read my guide to cheaper over 50s car insurance, as this could save you money.

About Direct Line

Direct Line was launched in the UK in 1985.

At the time, its proposition was revolutionary, as it involved direct selling through technology (initially telephones) to the UK public rather than the norm at the time – High Street outlets. Direct Line’s own statistics state that they sell an insurance policy every 10 seconds and are notified of a customer claim every 30 seconds.

For your peace of mind, Direct Line is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
