Act now to save hundreds of pounds on prepaid funeral plans

In line with rising funeral costs, every year funeral plan providers increase the cost of their prepaid funeral plans. For many, these price changes take place towards the beginning of the year, with just a few stragglers holding on to last year’s prices for as long as possible; 2014 is no exception.

The ‘big 3’, The Co-operative Funeralcare, Dignity and Golden Charter have been showing their new prices for a number of months now, averaging around £3,200 for a simple funeral plan; £3,600 for a standard funeral plan with one limousine and £3,900 for a superior plan with two limousines.

Whilst the majority of funeral plan providers have followed suit, there is still one company that up until now has remained at 2013 prices. This is about to change however as ‘Funeral Planning Services’, the provider of ‘Liberty Funeral Plans’ is set to increase their prices in line with the rest of the market as of the 14th July 2014.

As yet we are unsure of Liberty’s new pricing structure but you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be on par with its competitors. With that in mind, if you are thinking of buying a prepaid funeral plan either for yourself or perhaps a parent, it would be worth taking advantage of these cheap funeral plan prices before they increase on the 14th.

Comparing the current price of Liberty funeral plans with the industry average, you would look to save in the region of:

•    £100 on simple funeral plans
•    £300 on standard funeral plans
•    £400 on superior funeral plans

Considering the most popular prepaid funeral plan is the standard one, that could mean quite a considerable saving.

Of course £3,000 plus is not a small amount of money, so it’s understandable that you may not have the cash readily available. With that in mind, as with many other plan providers, the Liberty Funeral Plan gives you the option to pay over 12 months with no additional charges. Therefore if you don’t want to miss out on these lower prices, you could always pay a deposit to secure 2013’s rates, then pay the remaining balance over the next few months.
